The ECMWF model forecasts a brief spell of snow across southern Scotland and parts of Lothian and Strathclyde overnight and into tomorrow morning, which could cause some travel issues if this forecast comes off. Meanwhile the north of Scotland may well see a moderate, possibly severe frost overnight, thanks to light winds in the col area north of low Tomris (I kid you not). The Met Office must be very confident in their mesoscale model, because rather surprisingly they are not expecting much in the way of impacts from snow away from the higher ground of the southern uplands and Cumbria. It will be interesting to see which model ends up being right.
Mark that as a win for the Met Office model!
