So this is what they mean by an “early frost”

I know we have a bit of a snow cover at the moment in Strathpeffer but the model the Met Office use for their towns and city forecasts seems to have gone a bit haywire with temperatures later today forecasting that it they’ll fall rapidly from 0°C at 13 UTC to -7°C before 18 UTC under clear skies, before steadily warming to 0°C just after midnight. This gives a whole new meaning to the term “early frost”! My experience of the weather locally in the strath is limited to just a couple of winters, so maybe this forecast will play out, but as an ex-observer and a bit of a programmer I get the faint aroma of a Rattus norvegicus with this one. I’ll keep you posted.
