So what happens now? Well, according to two of the leading NWP models once we’ve seen the pack of this short cyclonic spell and got rid of this week’s family of lows through this coming weekend, winds across IONA will slowly veer into the northwest during next week, and then into the northeast as pressure continues to build to the northwest across Iceland. It certainly will feel cold in fresh northeasterly winds with wintry showers down eastern coastal districts. It should be mainly dry elsewhere though with the best of the any brightness confined to the sheltered northwest of Scotland. Will it happen? Who knows it looks plausible – but then most NWP does.
