Some Christmas cheer from the GFS

The northerly on Christmas Eve might only be forecast to last for just a day, but don’t worry, with such a massive anticyclone becoming established in the central Atlantic the situation looks set to repeat itself again after Christmas. This time the northerly does have a bit more clout behind it, and if these frames from the GFS do play out it looks like the 27th and 28th could be a real humdinger across the country. It’s a good job that the old GFS model can always be relied on to supply us with some much needed Christmas cheer, even if it most of it turns out to be pure science fiction, because it does seem that good cheer is in very short supply this year.
