Spring 2020 – CET

It is not that surprising that meteorological spring 2020 was yet another very mild affair when 30 out of the last 32 springs in central England were also above average. I made the mean temperature 9.88°C, which was 1.55°C above the 1772-2019 LTA, making it the ninth mildest spring on record since 1659. In central England this spring there was only one cold spell to speak of and that coincided with the ice saint feast days in the second week of May. Apart from that it was just a series of warm spells one after another, the one from the 10-12th April coincided in what was a virtually sunny seven days across the whole of the UK.
