Spring retreat

After a very mild winter it looks like spring has been put on hold as a series of lows are forecast to run southeast from Iceland into Norway which will maintain a never ending supply of cold air from Greenland. That’s of course if this animation of the latest hi-res run of the ECMWF model is correct. I’m sure that if it does the days will be bright, and that out of the wind and in the sun the strong April sunshine should help make things feel not too bad, but nights will be cold, and the mountains of Scotland will see their snow cover reinforced. I notice that in light of these recent NWP revelations, the Great Oz has now dropped any reference to high pressure favouring southern areas in his latest pronouncement.
