Storm Atiyah on Friday?

The forecast chart for Friday looks interesting, with a strong to gale force southwesterly across southeast England as a deepening low heads northeast across the Irish Sea. Interestingly the GFS model has snow on the northern edge of the low over Ireland and southern Scotland as it zips across the country. The gradient may not be just quite tight enough for it to be christened the second named storm of the season, for some reason the Met Office are refusing to add storm Lorenzo to their list at the moment, but if it is, and this forecast plays out it will be storm Atiyah. As far as I can see this is an Arabic first name meaning “gift”, and although I realise we live in a multi-cultural society these days, for the life of me I can’t see what’s so politically incorrect about using good old fashioned names like Albert or Arthur.
