Stormy weather

There are ‘signals’ – so says the chief down at the Met Office – that things could get even stormier from this weekend across IONA. Not unsurprisingly the GFS model has also picked up on these ‘signals’, and it looks likely that after a brief anticyclonic interlude, a series of fast moving vigorous depressions will rush eastward passing close to over the north of Scotland from Saturday onward. The westerly airstream is so strong next week that it’s blowing cold air right across the North Atlantic from Arctic Canada, which seems to be the only way that any cold air can reach IONA these days, forget about those cold continental easterlies they are so passé.
