Strong winds but which are they blowing?

If you believe the latest run of the GFS model, which takes Thursday’s low further south, you maybe be expect the winds in the yellow warning to be easterly or north easterly across England. But the Met Office T+60 fax chart has a much deeper low crossing the borders at 12 UTC, so they have to be strong to gale force southwest or westerly. Either way Thursday is shaping up to be an interesting day, with all the NWP models at sixes and sevens about exactly what track low Clara is taking. Who knows if Met Eireann take the GFS model at face value they might even trigger the renaming of Clara to storm Brendan before we’ve done.
