Stuck in a rut

The weather pattern has been stuck in a rut since the start of the month, and it looks very much like it’ll continue like this for the next ten days according to Aiden McGivern in the Met Office 10 day outlook. Pressure has been anomalously higher than average across the Denmark Straits close to Greenland by over 14 hPa since the 1st of May. That’s forced the Polar front jet south of the UK and help produce a belt of lower pressure that extends over 6,000 km WSW- ENE from Nova Scotia to the northeast Russia. It looks like the cool showery weather with occasionally longer outbreaks of rain will persist.
