Successive coldest nights of the autumn

The severe frost at Aviemore last night (18-19 November) made it a successive coldest night so far this autumn, with a minimum of -8.7° (18-06). These minimums are from the SYNOP observations only, and don’t include climate stations or NCM data that the Met Office just won’t release. It’s also at this time of year that the minimum temperature can occur well after to 06 UTC, and closer to 09 UTC, especially the further north you are. I wonder just how much affect a thick veil of cirrostratus at 17,000 feet had on overnight minimums across Scotland?
