Sure about heavy rain – not so sure about strong winds and blizzards

Storm Christoph is going to make it a very busy week as far as warnings are concerned for the Met Office. They have already got in force a whole batch of yellow and amber warnings for thawing snow, heavy rain and flooding, but so far they have not issued anything for strong winds, which look highly likely as we go into Thursday looking at the latest NWP. It’s probably because they don’t know precisely which area to target the warning at because the forecast is changing from run to run, but if that’s the case why did they feel confident enough to update their amber warning for rain and extend its area? It’s not only strong winds they have to worry about, because as storm Christoph pulls away into the North Sea the very strong N’NEl’y wind in its wake combined with snow could cause blizzard conditions in the northeast.
