This simple infographic is comprised of all the annual maximum temperature anomaly charts for the last eleven decades in the UK, in other words since 1910. The anomalies are with respect to the 1961-1990 LTA. I was going to display the means but I decided to use the daily maximum temperatures for a change. You’ll notice that around eight of the eleven last years of a decade have been warm, whilst only four out of eleven first years of a decade have been warm. Despite this I wonder if 2020 will prove to be yet another one of those warm years? The odds are certainly stacked in its favour, as 22 out of the last 23 years have been warmer than average.
