“Temperatures pretty disappointing…”

This anomaly chart of today’s maximum temperatures is a bit of an experimental product. The daily LTA I use to calculate them with for today are all from SYNOP observations for the 20th of May I’ve collected since 1981. I don’t have them all, and some stations only commenced reporting in recent years, so I call them my best guess 1981-2020 long-term averages. But daily station averages are essential if you want to produce daily anomalies for each station, and today across IONA they were all negative, on yet another cold May day, apart from just two stations in western Scotland.
