The last week of August wasn’t cool or chilly, or whatever other kind of euphemism the weathercasters could dream up to describe it, it was just plain cold. I think you would appreciate that fact more if you worked outside, or maybe took a daily walk. It certainly made a refreshing change from the very close and humid weather from earlier in the month, especially to people stuck with tropical nights in the south. There was an early autumn in northern Scotland last year and the leaves are already giving up the ghost and starting to fall from our Silver Birch tree this week, so who knows this maybe another one. Certainly the NWP from the GFS model indicates a mobile zonal flow for the next couple of weeks, and I’m sure that the headlines later this week will be regarding how Britain is being hit by the remnants of hurricane Laura.
