The reason for last nights amended snow warning

Estimated precipitation from weather radar

This is the first chance that I’ve had to look at the reasons behind this mornings amended snow warning from the Met Office. It looks like snow showers penetrated much further eastward than earlier was anticipated, and put down a few centimetres down right across Scotland from Ayrshire to Edinburgh in the early hours. Let’s hope they aren’t caught out so easily tonight. The iron curtain rain shadow that is the Northwest Highlands protected most of the northeast.
