The UKMO 12 UTC analysis was probably right

I never thought with the severe frost we’ve seen today, which persisted locally till 17 UTC, that any of the precipitation tonight from the cold front coming in from the northwest would be of rain here in the north. Admittedly there’s not been a lot of rain in Easter Ross, but the air temperature is now a degree above freezing. I strongly suspect the warm front that the UKMO dropped from their 18 UTC analysis is still active. Just when you thought that you might see some more snow – up pops a warm front to spoil all the fun. Hopefully the showers behind the front will fall as snow tomorrow but I’m not holding my breath.
