The winter of 1946-47 and 1962-63 compared

A quick look back at temperatures in two of the most severe winters across the UK in living memory, the snowy harsh winter of 1946-47 and the big freeze of 1962-63. Unfortunately this comparison is for central England temperatures only, but does seem rather apposite for this time of year. Maybe winter 2019-20 might be a late starter as 1946-47 was? We live in hope (or we would if the house prices were that bit lower in the Peak district).
