Today’s cancelled warning

After all the indecision regarding how low Clara would develop and the speculative issuing of a yellow warning for strong wind for today the warning was deleted sometime yesterday evening by the Met Office. I would have said cancelled but it just disappeared without any reason, obviously to minimise any further talk about how they had been misled by their model over the last few days. They may have saved themselves a great deal of trouble if they restricted how much in the future they issued warnings like this to 36 rather than 72 hours as they seem to do now. I was rather surprised that they didn’t cancel it earlier, and had thought they might leave the warning in force and brazen it out like they’ve done in the past, after all it is a rather windy day south of 53° north, and there have been a few lively gusts around. Apologies for the analysis!
