Very cold day for early December across the north and west

Midday temperatures across inland parts of northern Scotland were still widely sub-zero despite the sunshine, which I noticed got ne’er a mention in the BBC forecast, that meant anomalies were as low as 6.5°C below the LTA at Tain. Generally anomalies were in the range three to six degrees below average across many western and northern parts, with only stations along the southeast coast of England closer to the norm. For once I didn’t here those immortal words, chill, chilly, cool or cooler mentioned in the TV forecast which makes a bloody change.
