Wednesdays low

There is not a great deal of consensus between any of the forecasts for Wednesday from the NWP data available on the internet. The ECMWF model seems to be the outlier, which as well as the promise of a wet and potentially stormy day for Scotland on Wednesday, also includes the first snow for the mountains in later frames. The UKMO fax chart offering seem to be siding more with the GFS model, and yes that is the 528 dm 1000-500 hPa thickness line you can see on it. I will have to remember to revisit this post on Thursday, because all of these models can’t have the right solution at T+120, and don’t forget that this could well be the first gale day of the autumn, coming as it does on the day after the equinox.
