What a difference a day makes

Lunchtime BBC forecast on the 10th and 11th of March 2021

I don’t exactly know what went on down in the BBC Weather department yesterday with the forecast gusts of 85 mph for this afternoon, but today Sarah Keith Lucas was playing down the strong winds in her lunchtime forecast instead of ramping them up as Susan Powell was doing just 24 hours earlier. Perhaps they had simply displayed forecast gusts for earlier in the day (~03 UTC) and labelled it wrongly as 15 UTC – who knows. If Meteogroup actually insisted to the BBC that they embed the NWP model they were actually using in the graphics, we might be a little wiser as to what model they were using.
