It was always quite obvious that much of the heavy rain mentioned in the yellow warning for heavy rain for large parts of northeast Scotland today would fall as snow. I even joked that it should have been relabelled a yellow warning for rain and snow yesterday and so it should. Take a look at the webcam from Loch Morlich at a height of just over 310 metres in the Cairngorm National park a good covering of snow late this morning as evidence. Much of the lower ground it’s true is saturated, but much of the higher ground of the Grampians is covered by snow. What’s wrong with Oz? Does he know what’s happening? Perhaps someone should tell him what’s going on.
