The question “which was the sunniest April?” depends very much on where in the country you are talking about. According to the gridded data from the Met Office the sunniest for the whole of the UK since 1929 was the April of 2015 when there were 211.9 hours of sunshine (143% of the 1981-2010 LTA), but 2015 was only the sunniest in five out of the ten regions across the UK. The record for the sunniest April in Scotland is 78 years old and stretches back to 1942 when there were 210.2 hours of sunshine (163% of the LTA). The sunniest April across all ten regions was the April of 2007 in the southeast of England when there was 239.4 hours of sunshine.
