Winter 2020/21 – North Atlantic Oscillation

The daily North Atlantic Oscillation index for the winter of 2020/21 show a long spells of negative values from Christmas until mid February, and again for two shorter spells that dominated April. The first spell helped produce the cold weather across northern Scotland during January which was overlooked by many, that was until the cold weather permeated further south in the first half of February, then we never heard the end of it. Compare this last winter with the generally milder and much more progressive winter of 2019/20.
