Yesterday’s thundery downpours

Rainfall estimated totals from weather radar

Another day with thunderstorms across the northwest of England. They seemed to have been well placed this week to the northeast of what remains of this old vortex to find them spiraling up towards them from the southeast around it, locally triggered off by the higher ground to their east. Maximum estimated totals look to have been in excess of 50mm across a number of places in northwest England, Snowdonia and counties Tyrone and Fermanagh in Northern Ireland. The UKMO NWP mesoscale model looks to have had a much better day yesterday if their warning was anything to go by.
