1-2 Feb 2021 – Altnharra -12.1°C

The minimum temperature overnight at Altnaharra was -12.1°C probably just before midnight. It was still enough to make it the coldest place in the UK for the second consecutive night, but as suspected the wind backed into the east and increased shortly after midnight to prevent a record low. It’s so difficult to get a perfect radiation night in this part of the world. At the other end of the country St Mary’s on the Scillies was the mildest night with a minimum of 9.6°C – how many times has that happened this winter?
