26 Jan 2021 – latest rainfall this month

There is no doubt that January 2021 has been very wet across parts of Wales and the Northwest of England, but in other places notably southwest Scotland and the south coast of England rainfall looks a little below average. Take the results from the next chart with a pinch of salt I’m still working on getting some decent 30 year LTA to calculate these anomalies with. I’ve also noticed that places such as Loch Glascarnoch in the cold weather have not reported significant amounts of precipitation because the rain gauge of the AWS has been frozen up for days on end, which surprised me because I always thought that they were heated, perhaps the bulb went out!
