27-28 Jan 2021 – 24 hour accumulations

Estimated accumulations from weather radar

In all this excitement with today’s snow I wouldn’t have noticed just how wet the last 24 hours had been across the country if Stav hadn’t reminded me. It looks like it was particularly wet across Northern Ireland and the southeast of England, with over an inch of rain in central London if these estimated accumulations of mine are anywhere near accurate. Looking at the totals from the AWS [06-06] it looks like they are well over the top by around 30% in the southeast with my estimate of 27.2 mm for Heathrow coming in at 20.4 mm. Capel Curig on the other hand was much more accurate (21.0 measured 22.0 estimated) so it could be down to spoking from the Chenies radar.
