30-31 Jan 2021 – a rather chilly -12.2°C at Loch Glascarnoch

The lowest minimum temperature [18-06] from the SYNOP stations overnight across IONA was the -11.4°C at Loch Glascarnoch, however as is often the case the mercury keeps on falling till after sunrise at these latitudes, so in their 08 UTC observation the temperature had dropped by another degree to -12.2°C. This beats the rather chilly -12.1°C recorded there on the 6th January. The BBC have access to the Met Office top secret list and are saying that the overnight lowest was -13°C at Braemar. The Met Office aren’t tweeting at the moment about anything so I’ll keep this blog active until I find out more.
