It is a cold day everywhere across IONA today (5 April) with negative anomalies from all stations. It’s not just quite as cold in the more sheltered southwest in the sunshine, but even here it’s bit nippy out of the sun. And for once it’s equally as cold if not colder than further north across the southeast of England at lunchtime. The biggest shock though must be across Eastern England where yesterday anomalies where 6°C to 8°C above the LTA, today they are 4°C to 6°C below the LTA for 12 UTC. Today’s Worldview satellite image clearly shows how the bitterly cold air is streaming down in the northwesterly flow from eastern Greenland towards northern Scotland.
