A mild and rather wet winter to come

Paraphrasing the statistical gobbledygook that the latest 3 month outlook (for contingency planners whoever they are) from the Met Office is written in, I would say that winter 2019-20 in their opinion looks set to be another mild, drab and rather wet affair. I’m a bit late on to this story, but already December is shaping up to be wet, and although rather cold at times across the north, quite mild up until now. The Met Office now rather helpfully includes anomaly charts for the last 5 winters, and on past form temperatures have been average or on the mild side in each of them, rainfall on the other hand has generally been lower than average in most of them apart from 2015-16.
