Bang goes that bet!

This is the forecast for Christmas morning from the latest run of the GFS model. The chances of an anticyclonic easterly in last weeks forecast seem to have totally evaporated, and we’re left with a cold west northwesterly polar maritime flow and temporary ridge of high pressure if this piece of science fiction plays out. What with a no deal Brexit and panic buying in the shops looking more and more a reality, COVID-19 and the lockdown, bugger all on the telly, and yet another mild Christmas with little in the way of snow apart from on the highest ground in the north it looks like Christmas 2020 is going to be one to forget this year. Having said that, maybe perversely all these tribulations that we are going through at the moment might make it one to talk about for years to come.
