Close, but no cigar for the -9.5°C at Dalwhinnie

Excuse the spelling mistake it’s Dalwhinnie according to the Ordnance Survey

Not a perfect radiation night by any means, but temperatures at 18 UTC yesterday evening were already -6°C over a covering of powder snow across much of the Highlands, so it started well. In fact a number of stations yesterday reported an ‘ice day’ when maximum temperatures never manage to rise to zero or above. The coldest spot overnight [18-06] turned out to be Dalwhinnie with a minimum of -9.5°C, which just failed to beat the -9.6°C coldest night of the year reported at Altnaharra on the 4th of December.
