Cold and nasty down south

Temperature anomalies at 12 UTC were as low as -6°C below the LTA over many places in southern England, which must have come as a bit of a shock to the system for many as temperatures at 15 UTC this afternoon were between 5°C and 10°C lower than they had been 24 hours earlier on Monday. If it hadn’t been that the lockdown was still in progress the heavy rain would have made it an awful commute, with numerous areas seeing between 16 -25 mm of rain since 06 UTC this morning. Meanwhile in the Highlands we’ve got away with a couple of showers around lunch time, and then a dry afternoon with sunny spells and excellent visibility in a cool northeasterly breeze.
