Cold start to April continues

The rather cold start to April looks set to continue across IONA according to the latest NWP from the ECMWF, there will be a brief milder and wetter interlude across the northwest at that start of next week, before a resurgence of colder air from mid week and a return to mainly dry conditions with high pressure becoming established to the northwest and NE’ly winds. The ECMWF forecasts a vigorous low over Iberia to bolster up the easterly component by this time next week, with the only warm air tucked up in the bottom right hand corner of these forecast charts. Cold Aprils in the last thirty years have been fairly infrequent across the UK with only nine of them below average at a quick count.
