I think the chart above from the UKMO is displaying daily mean temperature anomalies from the gridded UK data series, it’s impossible to say because they don’t specify what the data source is. It could be daily gridded UK data or then again they may be using daily CET data. If it is gridded data I wonder if they’ll make it freely available to all? I doubt it but we live in hope. I like the infographic they’ve produced a combination of an area chart and anomaly map, although I think the year following the month is rather confusing.
I see they’ve done the same thing with the rolling daily rainfall infographic, but this time they’ve included a bar chart (in black) with an impossibly small Y axis. The daily rainfall really needs its own separate expanded Y axis to work properly. I wonder why the Met Office are so loathed to produce truly interactive graphs using Highcharts?
When I create an infographic I don’t feel it’s complete without giving it a proper title, a start and end date, the period of the LTA that the anomalies were calculated against, and what the data is and who supplied it.
