January 2020 – Global Temperatures

Despite the record warmth across Europe this January, and lots of reports in the media that January 2020 will be (or is) the warmest January since records began, my DIY Global temperature series still only makes it second warmest behind 2016. My experimental calculations do show the daily values still inexorably on the rise with the linear trend of the last 10 years as high as +0.173°C per decade. Because I can do my calculations almost on a daily basis, I am way ahaed of the professionals, so it will be a while before the GISTemp January temperatures are revealed, and even longer before the CRUTEM are published. I’ll be very interested to see just how my DIY values compare.
