Just how cold is the North Sea at the moment?

Here are the latest SST charts for around the UK in a little more detail than Meteogroup could manage, perhaps they thought that the extra detail might be a distraction and the intelligence of the average viewer in the UK wasn’t up to it, so they played it safe and kept it simple. So why is it that you rarely if ever see a SST chart (or real time SFERIC reports) or sea surface temperatures mentioned in weather forecasts on TV, after all we are an island in the second largest ocean in the world which dominates our weather for much of the time. Anyway I’m wandering, the fact of the matter is although they are comparatively cold, at the moment North sea temperatures are a degree or so warmer than average in many areas for this time in April.
