Libyan heatwave warms Greece

Heat spreading north in the SW’ly flow from Libya produced sunshine and some record early warmth across Sicily and Greece yesterday. Temperatures across Libya were in the range 27-31°C at 12 UTC yesterday. This helped maximum temperatures at Souda in Crete reach 24°C from the fohn wind blowing down from the White mountains to its south.
