I so do hate that old cliche from Michael Fish, but what the hell it seems to work for today’s wide range of temperatures across the country from cold in the Scotland but very mild south of latitude 54° north. Having said that it looks like East Anglia have seen some bright weather with anomalies of +5 or +6°C, so maybe you could describe the weather more as a sandwich. The frost overnight did manage to lift by lunchtime here in Ross-shire, but it only served to refreeze the snow that’s been lingering in our garden for the last week. Paths around the village remain dangerous and still ice covered despite the milder weather. We finally managed a dry day with a lovely crisp cold sunny morning with little wind, but cirrus has now started to invade the skies from the south this afternoon.
