So high pressure is in charge is it? The proverbial fly in the ointment

It is rather uncommon to see a spell of moderate rain with pressure over 1030 hPa but it’s forecast to happen overnight across northern Scotland. There seems to be no end to these kind of scenarios in recent months across the UK were an active weather features finds itself embedded right in the heart of a large anticyclone. The pockets of heavier rain in the midnight frame suggest that it has some instability associated with it as well. Well at the moment it’s rather a beautiful afternoon north of Inverness and totally at odds with the forecast from the Met Office, which is not surprisingly is not that unusual.
