Southeast sizzle on another hot Fri-day

Temperatures peaked at 36.4°C in the mid afternoon at London Heathrow Airport and Kew Gardens according to the Met Office Twitter feed – yippee! I shouldn’t be surprised if the Met Office don’t have a climate station squirreled away at some unknown sewage works somewhere in the capital that might have got even just a little higher. What all those southerners would give for a splash of rain and temperatures of twenty degrees at the moment, and don’t forget according to Chris Fawkes, they’re down for a tropical night to come and I don’t think that means they’ll all be on the rum punch either.

The cloud that’s crept northeastward across the central southern England this afternoon again looks like the result of medium level instability, and any rain falling from it may well not be reaching the ground.
