The latest NWP forecasts do show a strong potential for a spell of severe gales across the northern Scotland on Sunday morning. Let’s see if the UKMO sit this one out as they so often do with yellow warnings for strong wind in Scotland. The GFS model seems to have the strongest belt of W’NW winds extending from the northwest down towards Perthshire in the east, whilst the ECMWF model has the strongest winds further southwest over Lochaber and Argyl. These chart don’t look in anyway typical for the first week of July, and are more reminiscent of Autumn, perhaps it’s coming early this year?
We of course don’t know what the UKMO NWP model is forecasting, because it’s on a need to know basis, and we don’t need to know !
