The warmth continues

There seems to be no respite in the exceptional warmth that we have seen across much of Europe, Scandinavia and western Russia this winter. Mean temperature anomalies for the first thirteen days of March are close to +10°C across the Ukraine, it’s no wonder that the SST’s in the Black Sea and the Baltic are currently so high. Meanwhile temperature anomalies in the central North Atlantic remain on the cold side (-2°C), and the anomalous blob of warm sea water (+4°C) in the Davis Straits remains.
