This weekend’s heavy rain

I will let you be the judge of just how accurate the third Met Office warning was for this weekend’s rain. If you believe the estimated accumulations from weather radar it maybe should have been extended a wee bit north and east and pulled back across the western isles. There certainly was a large area of 25 – 50 mm totals across many parts of north and west Scotland. There are areas of red, purple and the odd white pixels over the mountains, indicating peak totals as high as 225 mm, so their earlier warnings of 180 mm accumulations looks more realistic than the 100 – 130 mm they toned down in their final update.
