I am sure if I were issuing a snow warning for Tuesday I would employ a more broad brush kind of approach rather than this convolute hourglass shaped area the UKMO have come up with. The area does seem to vaguely follow the 200 M contour to pick out the areas of higher ground most likely to be affected. The area excludes Edinburgh, and given their track record this winter I wouldn’t have thought that was such a bright idea. Yet another tricky situation but it does look likely that any snow will turn to rain behind the occlusion south of the central belt.
