What happens next?

Well what happens next is that a deep low to the west on Thursday tries to push it’s occluding frontal system north and east across IONA. The four model main models for 06 UTC on Thursday all have differing solutions for the position of the low and how far north the occlusion gets by that time. The ECMWF solution has high pressure just about holding firm across the north of Scotland and repulsing the mild air back south during the remainder of Thursday. That same kind of scenario is played out again during the week after that, but this time the mild air does win out.
