Whatever happened to the terms sultry and close?

Relative Humidities at 13 UTC on the 25 June 2020

Whatever happened to the terms sultry and close as a description of weather when it was oppressively warm and humid? All you seem to get from the current crop of weathercasters is how humid it is at the moment, and of course the usual advice that this will make it difficult for you to sleep in, as if we hadn’t twigged that this might well be the case. Well it feels sultry up here in the North of Scotland at the moment, not that dew points are excessively high this afternoon, for goodness sake they are only around 14°C, and much lower that the 17 or 18°C in places further south.
